Legend to the table of potential problem areas

  1. Year = year of data collection
  2. ID = identification number of a potential problem area (PPA). ID is unique within one region (e.g., in VA,WV,NC).
  3. Area = area of the PPA in sq.km.
  4. Dist = Distance from the beginning of the STS action zone, km
  5. x = x-coordinate of the PPA center in albers projection, units meters, 1st standard parallel = 34, 2nd standard parallel = 47, central meridian = -85.
  6. y = y-coordinate of the PPA center in the same albers projection (see above)
  7. n = number of traps within the PPA
  8. max = maximum moth counts in the PPA
  9. M(ln(n+1)) = mean log-transformed moth counts in all traps in the PPA
  10. nBckgr = number of traps in a 25-km circle around the PPA center excluding traps in any PPA.
  11. MBckgr = average log-transformed, loge(n+1), background moth counts in a 25-km circle around the PPA center (traps in any PPA are not counted).
  12. VBckgr = variance of log-transformed, loge(n+1), background moth counts in a 25-km circle around the PPA center (traps in any PPA are not counted).
  13. nNear = number of traps in the neighborhood area (neighborhood area includes the PPA itself plus a 3-km circle around the PPA center).
  14. areaNear = the size of the neighborhood area, sq.km.
  15. Mnear = mean log-transformed moth counts in the neighborhood area.
  16. nBefore = number of traps in the neighborhood area in the previous year
  17. maxBefore = maximum moth counts in the neighborhood area in the previous year
  18. Mbefore = mean log-transformed moth counts in the neighborhood area in the previous year
  19. BckBefore = average log-transformed, loge(n+1), background moth counts in a 25-km circle around the PPA center (traps in any PPA are not counted) in the previous year.
  20. indPriority = priority index
  21. indDelim = delimiting index
  22. GrRate = population growth rate adjusted to background moth counts [loge(max/maxBefore)-MBckgr+BckBefore].
  23. delim = 1 (or 0) if area was (or was not) delimited in the current year
  24. delimAfter = 1 (or 0) if area was (or was not) delimited in the following year
  25. trtAfter = 1 (or 0) if area was (or was not) treated in the following year
  26. recomAction 0 = no action recommended; 1 = delimiting recommended; 2 = treatment recommended; -1 = area was not detected as a PPA by the decision algorithm (in this case it does not appear on the map).
  27. maxYr+1 = maximum moth counts in year+1 within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA
  28. maxYr+2 = maximum moth counts in year+2 within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA
  29. maxYr+3 = maximum moth counts in year+3 within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA
  30. maxYr+4 = maximum moth counts in year+4 within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA
  31. maxYr+5 = maximum moth counts in year+5 within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA
  32. trtYr+2 = 1 if the area within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA was treated in year+2; 0 if not treated
  33. trtYr+3 = 1 if the area within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA was treated in year+3; 0 if not treated
  34. trtYr+4 = 1 if the area within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA was treated in year+4; 0 if not treated
  35. trtYr+5 = 1 if the area within 3 km radius from the center of the PPA was treated in year+5; 0 if not treated
  36. submittedAction = action assigned by people (-1= not assigned, 0= do nothing, 1= delimit, 2= treat)
